Kick One Bad Habit – Soft Drinks!
In a recent report from an individual doing a humanitarian aid in a foreign country, he told how he was approached by one receiving his meager bowl of food and asked, “Tell me. Is it true…is it really true that in America, people pay others to help them lose weight?” The reporter sadly responded that it was indeed true – a hard thing for one to fathom who can’t imagine having enough food to fill his tummy even one day, let alone ever have too much.
So why are 65% of all Americans so overweight?
Approximately 100 years ago, the average amount of fructose eaten per day was approximately 15 grams and primarily in the form of fruit. Today, 25% of Americans now consume more than 135 grams per day, and largely in the form of soft drinks.
Recently, in 23 soft drinks tested – including the most popular drinks as Coke, Pepsi, and Sprite – the high fructose corn syrup content was much higher than claimed by the industry – as much as 20% higher.
Consider the fact that the average American drinks between 53 to 57 gallons soft drinks per year. And since high fructose corn syrup in the form of soft drinks is the number one source of calories, it is most likely the primary cause of obesity.
If you drank one can of any soft drink per day, by the end of the year you would most likely gain 15 pou.nds because your body stores high fructose as fat. Not only that, it is a dangerous high fat because it creates a vicious cycle of over/eating and weight gain that is continuous.
All sugars, fructose and high fructose corn syrup alike, are acid to the body. In order to metabolize large amounts of fructose, the burden is placed entirely on the liver. When the liver is overloaded, toxins are created, specifically uric acid which also increases your risk of cancer, arthritis, gout, heart disease, and diabetes (as much as 85%). High levels of uric acid also play an important part in the development of kidney disease and high blood pressure. All in all, a diet high in sugars create most major diseases as you can see because of the high fat production, uric acid, and weight gain connected to it.
So what’s the solution? You can reverse the process and instead of adding fat and calories to your body, and overtaxing your liver with undesirable toxins, you can drink WATER! Water:
• Is vital for cleansing your body of toxins
• Helps shed pounds of unneeded fats – ultimately the best diet aid
• Hydrates the skin and slows down the aging process
• Vital for chemical reactions in digestion and metabolism of foods
• Energizes the body through the cleansing process
So kick the soft drink habit starting this month! You don’t need the extra calories, fat, and toxins, and you do need water – lots of water instead! Plus – consider the hundreds and maybe thousands of dollars you will save in one entire year if you give up drinking soft drinks!
Make it your goal – treat your body to real health and wellness this year and kick the soft drink habit for good!
